Desert Shore Houseboats (DSH) is a limited production builder located in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. As the houseboat industry's ultra-custom builder, DSH has the ability to take on unique projects that are not possible for manufacturers driven by production-line timetables. By taking on only one or two projects simultaneously, DSH is able to create a vessel for the buyer seeking something distinctive with an unparalleled level of quality, detail, and customer service.

DSH's low production rate has allowed it to focus greater emphasis on unique concepts and innovations. DSH has recently augmented its exclusive tunnel-hull technology with the introduction of a complementary anchor drawer system, which greatly simplifies anchor management for beach campers. DSH is also pursuing a new "residential yacht" series of vessels, which strives to elevate the aesthetics of the houseboat to new levels while maintaining the interior volume and practical aspects which make the vessels so appealing.
DSH constructs its boats to comply with USCG and other standards as they apply to houseboats. All boats incorporate an all aluminum Tunnel-Hull design that is unique within the houseboat industry. This hull concept provides efficiency, stability and safety while accommodating the amenities house-boaters have come to expect, such as central heating and air conditioning, cuddy cabins, and large hull storage areas.

DSH boats are custom built to order. However, several sample plans are included in this website. Available beam widths are 18' to 22' with any length, varying from 66' to 100'. DSH is a limited production builder which produces 3 to 6 distinctive vessels per year. As such, the company exists mainly as a custom alternative for the high-end buyer seeking to create something more distinctive than the typical production houseboat. We make no secret of catering to those seeking a custom or otherwise extraordinary vessel. Our production standards are higher than the industry in general and, as such, we limit our production to no more than two simultaneous projects. These reasons, coupled with our unique design features, make us somewhat more expensive than high-production manufacturers. As a result, it is necessary for us to limit our production slots to those vessels larger than 66 feet and $500,000 in cost. We are happy to recommend builders for less expensive vessels.
